Government Advertising Guidelines

The current procedures and policy requirements for advertising activities are outlined in the current NSW Government Advertising Guidelines:- 

The NSW Government Advertising Guidelines provide explanation of the frameworks, processes and services provided to assist Departments to achieve maximum effectiveness and value for money.

 

Requirements for all categories of advertising are outlined within, including:

  • Recruitment Advertising
  • Public Notices and Tenders
  • Public Awareness Advertising

These Guidelines incorporate the requirements of all previously issued Department of Premier and Cabinet Circulars and Memoranda.

Reporting of Public Awareness Advertising

As mentioned in the NSW Government Advertising Guidelines, Government agencies are encouraged to publish information about their advertising programs on their websites. Information may include advertising rationale, objectives, costs and outcome.

Key public awareness advertising activity (over $1 million in value) completed during January to December 2008 was as follows:

  • Cancer prevention $15.9 million
  • NSW Lotteries $18.4 million
  • Road safety $13.4 million
  • Tourism $9.3 million
  • Workcover $3.0 million
  • Water Conservation $3.6 million
  • Health $2.3 million
  • Sydlink Infrastructure $1.5 million
  • Energy Australia (various safety and promotion) $3.3 million
  • Integral Energy (various safety and promotion) $1.3 million
  • Landcom (various land release promotions) $1.3 million
